ArenaGear, a manufacturer of sports timers, was looking to enhance its capabilities to support rapid growth and maintain a competitive edge. Its mobile app, which provides real-time event timing without internet access, would be updated to enable centralized management of events, participants, and devices.
ArenaGear also wanted to introduce NFC-based wristbands for streamlined registration.
I've had the pleasure of working with Wade Powell for the past 10 years, and I can confidently say he is one of the smartest and most capable software engineers I've ever met. As president of DigitalBlue Software, Wade stepped in at a critical time when another contractor had left us with a broken, unusable app. He and his talented team not only salvaged the project but transformed it—adding powerful features that far exceeded my original expectations.
Thanks to Wade's technical expertise, vision, and commitment to excellence, our product is now a market leader in our industry. I can't recommend him and his company highly enough.
We took on a complex React Native project that began with a basic layout, limited offline use, and partially working Bluetooth. Our team resolved all Bluetooth issues, including custom peripheral support, and implemented full API integration for seamless data flow. We added wristband functionality to support tracking and enhance user experience.
The app was expanded to run on tablets and phones, with a dedicated web portal for wristband users. We also improved offline capabilities and introduced cloud features, allowing run data and sport times to be stored and reviewed online. Coaches and teams can now access past performance for better training insights.
